14-16 Do everything readily and cheerfully—no bickering, no second-guessing allowed! Go out into the world uncorrupted, a breath of fresh air in this squalid and polluted society. Provide people with a glimpse of good living and of the living God. Carry the light-giving Message into the night so I’ll have good cause to be proud of you on the day that Christ returns. You’ll be living proof that I didn’t go to all this work for nothing.  (Philippians 2:14-16 – The Message)

Our society is squalid and polluted.  It fills with different crooked values and selfish schemes.  We, as Christians, are not to go along with the current.  We have to identify the pollutants and let people know about them.  We have to carry the light-giving Message into our society, so people are aware of the darkness of the world.  Being in the darkness is dangerous because you can not see clearly and you get lost easily.  You feel abandoned, helpless, and scared in darkness.  Our biological body is not designed to live in the darkness. We do not have night vision like the owls. We, as Christ-followers, are not only supposed to live in the light. We have to bring light, so people can see and be able to find the way to God.  In God, people are no longer being tortured by the unfair / unrighteous system.  People would have hope because they would understand our lives on earth is temporary and the suffer / struggles / challenges that they are facing are temporary.  One day, the squalid and polluted world will be gone and we will live with God in joy and peace forever.
