9 So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. 10 Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better. (Colossians 1:9-10 – New Living Translation)

When we were a kid, we always hope to become a grown-up sooner. So, we can do whatever only the grown-up can do. We long for the freedom that can only be enjoyed in adulthood. However, when we become older, we wish to become a kid. We wish to have less obligations. We long for the worry-free mindset that can only be possessed in childhood. Regardless of our willingness to grow, growth seems to be a natural process. Even if we do not grow in maturity, we will grow physically. We can not avoid the aging process. People have different expectations for people at different age. When you are a kid, people would have a higher tolerance with your mistakes. When you grow older, people would expect you to have certain level of maturity to deal with different situations. Some people grow by experiences. As a Christian, we grow by learning to know God better and better. God would help us to grow. God gives us spiritual wisdom and understanding to live a fruitful life in maturity.

“All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.”
