24 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life. 25 “Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. 26 For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself. 27 And he has given him authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of Man. 28 Do not marvel at this, for an hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment. (John 5:24-29 – English Standard Version)

Jesus has the authority to execute judgment and we all need to face the judgment on the judgment day. However, Jesus does not come to judge and condemn our sins. He comes to give us life. Whoever believes in the word of God will have eternal life. Do we value the eternal life given by God? Why is eternal life so precious? One aspect of eternal life is that we are in the presence of God. Being in the presence of God supposed to be the most joyous and peaceful moment. However, our sinful nature tempts us to attain joy and peace through ways other than God. We feel burdened to be in the presence of God and have a tendency to run away from it. This is not true. We are being deceived. God promises to give joy and peace and He always keep His promises. Things that are bad and evil should not come from God because He is good. We have to overcome the deception and return to God to claim His promises.
