Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:13-14 – English Standard Version)

To move forward, we need to learn forgetting what lies behind. We may have regrets in our lives. When we reflect on what we did, we can easily think of ways that we can do differently. It is important to reflect on our lives and learn from mistakes. So, we can improve on our weakest link. However, if our reflection do not lead to a change in action, we have not truly learnt from our mistakes. Changing attitude can be a starting point, but it must followed by changing behaviour. Making changes require effort and it takes time to do it. There will be success and failures. We will experience time of disappointment and frustration, as well as lack of motivation and persistence. What we need to focus on is forgetting what lies behind, allowing God to work in us, relying on God to make behavioural changes and moving forward. At the end, you will receive the prize that God has prepared for you. What is the prize that you will get? Who knows? I’m sure it will be something that bring you the greatest joy and satisfaction in life.
