1 I want you to know how much I have agonized for you and for the church at Laodicea, and for many other believers who have never met me personally. 2 I want them to be encouraged and knit together by strong ties of love. I want them to have complete confidence that they understand God’s mysterious plan, which is Christ himself. 3 In him lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. 4 I am telling you this so no one will deceive you with well-crafted arguments. 5 For though I am far away from you, my heart is with you. And I rejoice that you are living as you should and that your faith in Christ is strong. (Colossians 2:1-4 – New Living Translation)
Paul have agonized for many believers whom he may not even know because he cares so much about his brothers and sisters’ spiritual well being. He does the best to ensure the Message of Christ is clearly communicated and believers have a deep understand of the Message so their faith in Christ would be strong and not be deceived by false teachings. We agonize for many different things in life, but do we agonize for the spiritual well being of our brothers and sisters? Sometimes we do care about others’ spiritual well being but we are intimidated to ask or care because we have not taken good care of our own spiritual well being. We are aware of own spiritual sickness but reluctant to do anything or we simply do not know what to do. It is hard for us to care about other‘ spiritual life if we do not care about our own. We do not need to have strong faith all the times but at least we have to care about our spiritual well being. We have to take good care of our spiritual health before taking care of others’.
