1 Masters, be just and fair to your slaves. Remember that you also have a Master—in heaven. 2 Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart. 3 Pray for us, too, that God will give us many opportunities to speak about his mysterious plan concerning Christ. That is why I am here in chains. 4 Pray that I will proclaim this message as clearly as I should. 5 Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. 6 Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone. (Colossians 4:1-6 – New Living Translation)
We need wisdom to live among those who are not believers. A lot of time, we are scared that the conversation about our faith is boring to the non-believers. We worry that what we say about our faith is not attractive to the non-believers and would turn them away. So, we tend to avoid the topic. God has given us many opportunities to share our faith. Sometimes, people take the initiative to ask about our faith or they show interests in knowing more about God. Without making the effort to respond them, we choose to step back and build the wall. The opportunity to share is given by God, so is the wisdom to respond. Once we start engaging in the conversation naturally, we will find the conversation is not so hard to carry on. It would be another opportunity for us to experience the presence of God.
“Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity.”
