16 When evening came, his disciples went down to the sea, 17 got into a boat, and started across the sea to Capernaum. It was now dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them. 18 The sea became rough because a strong wind was blowing. 19 When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat, and they were frightened. 20 But he said to them, “It is I; do not be afraid.” 21 Then they were glad to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going. The bible recorded another miracle of Jesus, which was Jesus walked on the stormy sea. This time, the disciples were frightened by Jesus’ act. We have fear. And we are easily frightened by the external environment. When we are in the stormy sea, we are scared. When we see extraordinary circumstances, we are frightened. But Jesus says to us, “It is I; do not be afraid”. We tend to run away from danger. We want to get rid of fear. We tend to find ways to make ourselves feel more secured. However, to get out of fear, we should stop doing, and start listening. We have to listen to Jesus as he says to us, “It is I; do not be afraid”. While we are in the stormy sea, Jesus is here. By the time that we have invited Jesus into our boat, He would grant us peace and we are no longer afraid.

But he said to them, “It is I; do not be afraid.” (John 6:20)
