12-13 What I’m getting at, friends, is that you should simply keep on doing what you’ve done from the beginning. When I was living among you, you lived in responsive obedience. Now that I’m separated from you, keep it up. Better yet, redouble your efforts. Be energetic in your life of salvation, reverent and sensitive before God. That energy is God’s energy, an energy deep within you, God himself willing and working at what will give him the most pleasure.  (Philippians 2:12-13 – The Message)

We give up easily. It is hard to keep up the momentum all the time. We may be enthusiastic at the beginning. But as time goes by, our energy level tends to go down. When we start slowing down, there is still a chance that we can keep going and moving forward, slowly. However, once we stop, it is extremely hard to start again. To start an engine of a car, it takes a lot of gas. When the car starts moving, the fuel needed to keep the car moving becomes less. When you feel drained, you can definitely allow yourself to relax and slowing down, but never allow yourself to have a complete stop. If what you need to do is God’s will, He would give you the energy to continue. The energy is deep within you and will never go away.
