6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him. 8 He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light. (John 1:6-8 – English Standard Version)
John was sent by God to bear witness about the light. We are also sent by God as His witness, where people may believe in Him through us. Sometimes, we feel good when people see us as good people. We want to have good names among people because we would feel good about ourselves. However, we need to be reminded that we are not the light and should not be the one who receive all the praises. We are here to bear witness about the light. If people can only see our good deeds and do not recognize the God we believe, we are not doing a good job as being God’s witness.
