1 As he passed by, he saw a man blind from birth. 2 And his disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” 3 Jesus answered, “It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him. 4 We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work. 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” 6 Having said these things, he spit on the ground and made mud with the saliva. Then he anointed the man’s eyes with the mud 7 and said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which means Sent). So he went and washed and came back seeing. (John 9:1-7 – English Standard Version)

After a car accident, it is important to identify who is at fault. If we are at fault, we need to figure out whether we are 50% at fault or 100% at fault because it has a huge impact on the insurance premium. In many real life situations, we think it is important to identify the right and wrong and we need to identify who is at fault. When everyone is responsible for a negative outcome, we tend to spend time to find out who should take the blame. God allows many tragic, upsetting and nonsense situations happen in our lives. There are many life situations that make no sense to us. But I believe God is not intended to create a puzzle for us to solve. Our life situations are not cases to be presented to court. We do not need to identify the right and wrong, we do not need to find out who is at fault and put charges on the person. The disciples saw a blind man and asked, “who sinned, this man or his parents?” An Jesus answered, “It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him.” God allows us to go through many different hurdles in life, so the works of God can be displayed in us.
