15-17You Philippians well know, and you can be sure I’ll never forget it, that when I first left Macedonia province, venturing out with the Message, not one church helped out in the give-and-take of this work except you. You were the only one. Even while I was in Thessalonica, you helped out—and not only once, but twice. Not that I’m looking for handouts, but I do want you to experience the blessing that issues from generosity.  (Philippians 4:15-17 – The Message)

Would you be surprised when there is no one church supporting a missionary to spread the Gospel?  This happened to Paul and this can also happen to any missionary in our world.  When it comes to giving, first thing that may come to our mind is whether the person has already received support from someone else.  If a supporting network has already been established, we may be more reluctant to give.  Besides, when we come across some great ideas or people with some great visions, we may easily assume that those ideas or people have already been well supported.  The reality can be a different story.  Great missionaries can experience severe financial difficulties and receive no support from a single church.  It may not be the fault of the churches.  It can be a result of miscommunication or incomplete information and these things happen.  Whenever you see the need to support a person, do it right away without a second thought.  You will sure experience the blessing that issues from generosity.
