1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. (John 1:1-5 – English Standard Version)

We live in the world of darkness and darkness is also inside us.  We have so many “secrets” in our lives that do not want people to know.  It would be worrisome if someone is able to read our mind.  Our evil thoughts are sometimes instant and we cannot stop it before it has fully developed.  Life in God is the light of men.  Only the light from God can overcome darkness, both external and internal darkness.  Some people choose to live in darkness and actually they enjoy living in the dark.  There must be something that attract them to live in the dark.  However, I believe if they know or experience the beauty of living in the light, they may make a different choice.  Why would a person choose to live in the dark if they can see things much clearer in the light?  Why would a person choose to suffer from coldness in the dark when they can enjoy the warmth from light?  If people has a chance to experience the beauty of being in the light, they probably would not choose to live in the darkness.

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
